It’s all about the words. If I was to make a mix-tape with songs where the theme was “These Lyrics Are Genius!” – what songs would I have on it?
Rather than go too deep and meaningful…what about if I include songs that always find their way into my everyday conversations and result in an outburst of singing in a way such as this scene from my favourite movie Stand By Me.
“It’s Fine Day” by Opus III
Whenever someone comments about the weather or if I happen to think that the day is in fact nice then I will sing “It’s a fine day, people open windows, they leave their houses just for a short while”.
The “la la la” parts are purely optional.
“Do You Know The Way To San Jose” by Dionne Warwick
Sometimes (not every time, as given the nature of my job, I’d be forever singing this song) when people ask me “Do You Know?” I simply start singing this classic Motown track. Other times, just to be different I use this song instead
“It’s Raining Again” by Supertramp
Taking into consideration what part of the world I’m from it rains…a lot. I will often look out the window, see the rain and start singing this song. It kind of puts a positive spin on the miserable weather.
“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by The Rolling Stones
“I want, I want, I want”. I hate when people say this. They should say “I would like” instead so when I hear people say the “want” word I remind them of this fact – via medium of song of course.
“The Queen” by Lady Gaga
Okay, if you thought I was being immature before now then this song will really cement that thought.
Sometimes Every time we go to the casino and we play blackjack whenever a Queen comes out I can’t help singing ooh a “Que-e-e-e-e-e-een”. I blame the alcohol…
