As you may know I am an iTunes-a-holic and to make sure I remember to listen to older songs, once a month I will add all songs by a particular artist to my iPod so that for that month I will have their songs pop up when I play it on shuffle mode.
For November I have chosen The Ting Tings – an indie, electro-pop duo.
I’ve been following The Ting Tings since 2008 and think their sound is so unique.
“That’s Not My Name” was the first tracks of theirs I ever heard:
I then couldn’t wait for their debut album, We Started Nothing, to be released. It gave us other brilliant tunes such as one of my favourites from them – “Shut Up And Let Me Go”:
Full of belting indie-pop tunes and also a ballad or two thrown in to show their versatility I had the album on repeat for months.
A few years later they released their follow-up album, Sounds From Nowheresville, and I have to admit I am not all that familiar with that album – hence the reason for them being my “artist of the month” so I can become familiar with it.
They have only recently released their latest album, Super Critical, which I have been playing a lot in the past few days and I really like it. The title track is called “Wrong Club” and is somewhere between being chilled out and dancing:
I would really recommended giving their new album a listen to.
Whenever any of my friends have a birthday I always post this version of “Happy Birthday” on to their Facebook timeline:
Finally, when they did release “That’s Not My Name” they had a promotion where their fans could call a phone number and leave a message saying their name and it would feature on the B side of the song. Well, OF COURSE, I had to do it and I feature at around 3:06 on the track – so that’s my claim to fame!
Thank you Ting Tings and I look forward to you playing on my iPod for the month.
