I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.

Cara Mia” by David Whitfield was Number One on 3rd July 1954 and this time he had brought along a Chorus & Mantovani & his Orchestra and stayed at number one for a massive 10 weeks – the longest time since the charts began.

There’s no doubt he has a fantastic “olden days” voice but this is not really my thing and I’m not sure how it managed to spend so long at number one.
