I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.

Such A Night
” by Johnnie Ray was Number One on 1st May 1954 and stayed there for one week only. Johnnie has been credited with being the precursor of what would become rock and roll. I think this is true as you can really tell the difference between this song and all previous number ones – it’s so new, fresh and its obvious music is moving in a new direction.

So slick your hair back and get your dancing shoes on as it’s going to be such a night!
