I am very, very disappointed with the pop band Aqua and my recent “Aqua Experience.”

When I discovered that Aqua – a band that I have championed for almost twenty years were coming to Aberdeen, I literally couldn’t speak for a few seconds.

I didn’t care that it was on a Wednesday night and I didn’t care that it was at a night club as part of a student night.

I was going!

I went…but I was so let down!

The event started at 22:30 so I wasn’t expecting the band to be on first thing, that was fine by me. What I didn’t expect was for it to be announced every ten minutes that they would be coming on and by 12:30 still no Aqua!

I had work the next day, time was ticking on drastically.

Eventually, it started but it was one of the band members doing a DJ set for an hour first.

We couldn’t stay any longer and we decided to leave.

I was so gutted and felt that Aqua had let their original fans down. The students in the nightclub probably had no idea who they were and possibly weren’t even alive when “Barbie Girl” was a hit.

I’ve looked at footage of all the shows they have recently done in Australia and wonder why we weren’t treated to the same.

The next morning I watched a video someone in the night club filmed and it almost makes me feel better as the eventual performance looked shit. It looked more like a really rubbish tribute band rather than anything worth actually seeing.

Aqua – you have really disappointed one of your biggest fans, thank you!
