The BBC have just announced their “Sound Of 2015 longlist” showing who they think will make it big in the music world in 2015 and this year I am paying attention.

Previous nominees have went on to become popular and I have been late to discover them i.e. Tom Odell and Sam Smith so I am getting in early this time.

Upon watching all the artists there was only really two that made an initial impression.

Firstly, James Bay, whose song I have heard playing on the radio lots of times but never investigated.

He is certainly to my taste and I will now go on and listen to more of his songs. However, although he is good I think he is too similar to Sam Smith and Tom Odell and I’m not sure the judges will opt for this style again.

My second choice would be Years & Years – an electro pop trio whose combined age looks to be about 19. Age aside, their sound is fresh and it immediately grabbed my attention.

I will be watching to see who comes out on top with much interest!
