I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.

Only Sixteen” by Craig Douglas was Number One on 12th September 1959 and stayed there for four weeks.

I’m quite sure that no one could get away with singing this song these days without getting arrested and put on some sort of register. However, it was different days back then and this former milkman then went on to top the bill at a Beatles gig.

The Beatles then went on to take over the world and Craig went on to fail to qualify for Eurovsion and now continues to sing on cruise ships – lock up your daughters folks!
