What Was The Number One Album When You Were Eighteen?

I know what the Number One album in the UK was when I was born but what was the Number One album at other milestone birthdays in my life.

When I was eighteen on 22nd March 1996, the UK number one album was “Falling Into You” by Celine Dion.

I simply loved Celine Dion. She could belt out a tune and she’s still got it unlike other divas of her time such as Mariah and Whitney. Granted, Whitney has since died but she did go down the plug hole long before she, well, went down the plug hole.

“Falling Into You” opened with an anthem of a song “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”. The only way I can describe this amazing song, video and her performance is – Meatloaf in a dress. It’s epic!

Meatloaf did eventually cover this song so – Celine in drag?

There were a couple of classic Celine ballads in “Because You Loved Me” and “Falling Into You”.

She sang a couple of cover versions on this album and as for the classic “All By Myself” –  she totally made it her own.

I also tried to make this song my own but it didn’t do so well…

One of my favourite tracks on the album is her cover of “River Deep, Mountain High” – try not to dance along, I dare you!

Merci pour la musique, Celine!
