My Weekly Playlist Number One this week was “Singing The Blues” by Guy Mitchell.
Here is my Top 10 most played songs from the last 7 days.
Number One this week was “Singing The Blues” by Guy Mitchell and as you can see my Top Ten this week is dominated. Don’t be surprised if you’ve never heard of him – he was in the charts over 50 years ago! Since I’ve been doing my “Every UK Number One” series it’s given me a new appreciation for older music and I just think Guy is awesome! He’s basically the Olly Murs of the 1950’s.
I challenge you not to sing along to “Rock-A-Billy” and urge you to listen to more of his songs – they just don’t make ’em like they used to!
Another old song that’s been played a lot this week is “Tell Laura I Love Her” by Ricky Valance. It’s a beautiful and very sad story – go listen!
Don’t worry, I’m not caught in a time warp I have listened to modern music this week too. “Would Be Lion” by AstroMaps has kept me going on this first week back at work.
Since Belle and Sebastian are my “Artist Of The Month” for January it’s been an absolute pleasure hearing them pop up on my iPod and I’ve been reminded of some fantastic songs from their back catalogue. “Lord Anthony” is a typical type of song from them – great story, fantastic arrangement!
