The Weeknd, the prominent musician from Canada, has been sweepingly gaining popularity since 2010. At that time, he uploaded his first mixtapes to YouTube. Nowadays, he is of the most famous world’s alternative R&B stars.
He has just released the long-awaited LP titled ‘Starboy’ by Republic Records and XO. The new LP includes 18 tracks.
On September 22, the famous Canadian composer released the album`s top track ‘Starboy’. The Canadian singer wrote this song with collaboration with the prominent French electronic twosome Daft Punk, as well as Henry Walter and Doc McKinney. ‘Starboy’ debuted at # 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Moreover, this song topped Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was The Weeknd’s fourth #1 single and first by Daft Punk.
The premiere of the ‘Starboy’ music video took place on September 28, 2016. It was directed by The Weeknd’s regular coworker Grant Singer. For this clip, The Weeknd received Best video award at MTV Europe Music Awards 2016.
On September 29, ‘False Alarm’ promo single was released in digital format to modern rock radio. On October 13, a music video clip for this single directed by Ilya Naishuller was officially made public.
On March 12, 2016, in his Instagram The Weeknd told that he was planning to work on the new album soon.
On August 24, 2016, Wendy Goldstein, executive vice president of the Republic Records, in his interview with Billboard officially confirmed The Weeknd’s teamwork with Daft Punk.
At the beginning of September 2016, the singers informed to Vman magazine that he had been working on his new LP. In addition, The Weekend added that such prominent superstars as Talking Heads, The Smiths, Prince, and Bad Brains inspired him greatly. The singer confirmed that the new album would bring plenty of new sings to his manner of performance.
On September 21, 2016, he officially announced the title and the release date of his third LP.
