What next for this year’s Eurovision finalists?
Switzerland: Luca Hänni
24 year old Luca Hänni represented Switzerland this year and came fourth, receiving 364 points, six away from Russia in third place, with his song “She Got Me” Luca co-wrote with Laurell Barker, Frazer Mac, Jon Hällgren and Lukas Hällgren. The song is very much in the style of Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin and clearly proved popular with the tele vote. So what do we know of Luca and where is he going next?
Luca burst onto the scene in 2012 when he won the ninth series of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (Germany Seeks the Superstar). His debut single “Don’t Think About Me” topped the both the Swiss and German singles charts and his debut album “My Name Is Luca” topped the Swiss album chart and made No.2 in Germany.
His follow up album “Living The Dream” in 2013 did the same. Albums came rapid fire after that with “Dance Until We Die” in 2014 and “When We Wake Up” the following year. He charted with the singles “Shameless”, “I Can’t Get No Sleep” and “Good Time”. “When We Wake Up” is his most recent album, however, he has released the one off singles “Powder” in 2017 and “Signs” in 2018.
He was Switzerland’s voting spokesperson at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest and after blinding the Swiss Eurovision jury with “She Got Me”, he was selected to represent the country at this year’s tournament in March. “She Got Me” has returned Luca to the top of the Swiss singles chart for the first time in six years as well as being Switzerland’s best finish at Eurovision for twenty six years!
Luca has already been busy with a new album, his first for four years, coming out this Summer and he is on tour across Switzerland this Autumn in support of the album with date further afield to be announced in the coming weeks!
Has Luca got you yet?!
