So, what’s new in The Listening Room recently?

‘Swing Door’ – Braw

Braw is the first joint venture of Edinburgh born Scottish brother duo Iain & Andrew Mundy, who now reside in the Southside of Glasgow. Before they came together in 2019, Iain had been songwriting for a number of years, leading to the 2018 release of his first EP, “The Tide”; while Andrew had been heavily involved in the choral, theatrical and a cappella scenes in St Andrews. Diving into the music scene together, their blood harmonies and different performing backgrounds have led them to engineer a truly unique style, while taking influence from a diverse and rich Scottish musical heritage.

‘Sleep Screaming’ – Day & Dream

Day & Dream is an indie-rock, dreampop, shoegaze band hailing from Asheville, North Carolina. When long time musicians and singer/songwriters, Peter Frizzante and Abby Amaya, met in New York City, they fell in love and began collaborating on a new artistic project. Abby’s roots are in California 60s coastal pop, while Peter’s is post-punk grit.

Working together, they found inspiration in nature, sleep cycles and the stars. They thematically link their music to relationships, aging, hope, travel and risk-taking while showcasing admiration for Britpop, 90s grunge, fuzzy guitars, and melodic pop structures. Reverb soaked and layered with soft whispery vocals, the result is an energetic and memorable reverie. Recently, they’ve experimented with electronic beats and lo-fi, lounge sounds.

‘This Way’ – Black Lyon

Black Lyon was born in Los Angeles when guitarist/singer Alex Mor (from Venezuela), bassist/singer Barbara Schucko (from Brazil), pianist Ece Muniroglu (from Turkey) and drummer Bas Janssen (from the Netherlands) decided to turn their emotional breakdowns into a musical story.

Their music delves mainly into the dark side of human emotions, exploring subjects such as depression, anxiety, fears, insecurities, and failures. Yet, it does so in an accepting and somehow optimistic way.

Inspired by the contemporary style of artists such as Lana Del Rey, Sia, and Clean Bandit, and the romantic sound of classical composers, Black Lyon has developed a musical aesthetic that submerges the listeners into a dramatic journey of their own through aggressive trap beats, climatic strings, and powerful catchy pop hooks.

‘Crystal Clear’ – Moon Loves Honey

Moon Loves Honey is the dreamy pop- and rockproject by Danish songwriter Jeppe Dengsø. The music is filled with heartache and youthful longing. Airy 80’s synths, danceable beats and rocking guitars are the backdrop for the all-important vocal melody, while lyrics unfold as daydreams of love, hope, meaning and longing.

Wait, there’s more…

‘Ode To Love’ –  Isaac Koshy

‘Not The One’ – Highnoon

‘Time-Lapse’ – Mocean
