What is The Discover Weekly Playlist?

By Steve McSteveface

I love my playlists, mixtapes and I love Spotify. You can imagine my joy when Spotify started to produce a playlist called “Discover Weekly” which consists of songs chosen just  based on listening habits – automagically!

I pretty much love every song on our playlist every week and there are songs ranging from cheesy to ballads and everything in between.

As well as sharing out the Spotify playlist – because if you are a fan of this site you will love that music too – here at Talk About Pop Music we like to go that extra step!

Each week we will feature additional songs that we personally recommend.

This week’s featured songs are:

‘Rye’ – Kin Capa

KIN CAPA is a one-manned band founded by NYC Singer, Guitarist, and Multi-Instrumentalist LEE CAPA. His critically-acclaimed conceptual debut THE AMERICAN OPERA: Act One (AO1) was Mixed/Mastered by Duncan Stanbury (JAYZ, J DILLA) & Barry Hartglass. Kin Capa is Managed by famed Music Law Attorney George Stein (Lana Del Rey, Jeff Buckley, Lou Reed). AO2 (Act II) features a collection of 9 new singles available now! Go to kincapa.com for genuine revelations on what to expect from the next of KIN and more myth shatterings. Join the cast or DIE!

‘Light Years Away’ – Echoofmyvoice

As the vocalist/songwriter of the Indie-Rock band Teskohippies, Slovak artist Bohus Michalko is excited to begin an all-new adventure in his music-career, and announce a solo project he’s officially calling Echoofmyvoice. Built on a foundation of crossover sound, stylistic melodies, and hybrid combinations that include inspirations from Pop, House, EDM and more – Echoofmyvoice is the sound of pure passion at its finest.

Making music that fully connects to the hearts & minds of those who listen, powerfully emotional songs, and bold imagination found in Echoofmyvoice reflect the relentless dedication and care that Bohus brings to every moment. The debut single, “Light Years Away”, marks the beginning of the next chapter in this extraordinary journey.

‘King Of Books’ – The Rungs

The Rungs are a female fronted alt-pop trio based out of Brooklyn NY. Inspired by everything from radio friendly pop-rock to obscure electronic sounds, metal and world music, The Rungs layer electric guitars with swirly synths, ethereal vocal harmonies and hooky beats, to create a strain of uniquely refreshing pop music.

‘Better Days’ – High Tropics

Dubbed as “infectious garage pop” by Rolling Stone magazine, High Tropics is the moniker of Queensland based songwriter Josh Stewart and his band. Formed as an outlet to house songs outside of the now defunct garage rock outfit The Ninjas, Stewart’s DIY home recordings quickly caught the attention of esteemed US label Roll Call records, who put out the project’s first two singles in 2017.

Wait, there’s more…

‘Dear John’ – Single By Summer

‘Story’ – Coco

‘Collide’ – Matt Dwyer

‘Wool’ – Weichspuler

‘I Can’t Feel And I Don’t Know Why’ – Alex Highton

‘Fence’ – Les Flair
