Christina Sikora says “Here We Are Now”
Christina Sikora is a 17 year old independent singer-songwriter from New Jersey. Christina began writing songs and playing multiple instruments around the age of 9. By the age of 14 she had already been performing her originals around New York, and later attended the Berklee College of Music summer songwriting program for 3 years, being mentored by NBC Songland’s Monument Records recording artist Sam DeRosa, LA indie pop singer-songwriter Wrabel, and Jake Ohlbaum guitarist/writer/producer of Nashville based pop-punk band The Foxies.
She continued to work with Jake Ohlbaum to produce and release her original music in 2018, as well as an EP in 2019 influenced by the styles of Julia Michaels, Taylor Swift, and Olivia O’Brien. Her debut single “Gone” landed air time on international radio station Fallen Angel Radio through Winter 2018-2019, and Skating By – EP began gaining traction on Spotify playlists during winter 2019.
Since then, Christina has two releases set for summer 2020 before moving to Nashville to attend Belmont University as a songwriting major later this year. The first of those tracks is “Here We Are Now”, a dance-pop track which is about reconnecting with someone from your past, with a very flashback high-school love type of feel to it. The song’s happy/upbeat reminiscing vibe is about falling in love with your first love again, and the production style was inspired by the song “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn.
