SIDES have “Hands In The Heat”
South London duo SIDES make electronic dreamy funk pop. Ryan (UK) and Criz (Australia) began creating music, after a four-year hiatus, whilst self-isolating, having both fallen ill with Covid 19. The luxury of time made them reassess what matters most; health and happiness. During their recovery, music has given them both. In 2016, SIDES independently released the disco driven, psychedelic debut “Bangbang” EP, sending a ripple through the blogosphere with support from The 405, Acid Stag, Fresh On The Net and many more.
It has since garnered over 60,000 streams, support from Radio 1xtra, NTS, PBS and Triple J, and a release via vinyl subscription service Flying Vinyl. “Hands in the Heat” is a three-minute dive into summer heatwave nostalgia. Written in beachless London during the lockdown, whilst recovering from challenging cases of COVID-19, Criz and Ryan found great relief in reminiscing about growing up in seaside towns in Australia and Britain. SIDES sound like early 90’s Michael Jackson has been left to warp in the sun. Sensual, nonchalant vocals float across fuzzy R’n’B grooves, rudely interjected by acid house dance sections.
