I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.

“Do Wah Diddy Diddy” by Manfred Mann was Number One on 15th August 1964 and stayed there for two weeks.

No idea what this song means but damn, it’s catchy – although if I saw someone walking down the street like this…

“There she was just walkin’ down the street
Singin’, “Do wah diddy, diddy, dum diddy do”
Snappin’ her fingers and shufflin’ her feet
Singin’, “Do wah diddy diddy, dum diddy do”

…then I think I would cross the road to avoid them as she sounds like a nutter!

OMG – Pft me…
