I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.

“Michelle” by The Overlanders was Number One on 29th January 1966 and stayed there for three weeks. 

Even although The Beatles were still huge this song was a cover of theirs. I much prefer The Beatles version.
