I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.

“Paint It, Black” by The Rolling Stones was Number One on 28th May 1966 and stayed there for one week.

This is definitely my favourite track from them and again, I can’t believe it was only number one for a single week! Were people crazy back in those days? In the US and UK, it was the first number one single to feature a sitar and this surely gives it a distinct sound. Originally intended to be a comedy track this to me is quite a dark song and would go well with any thoghtful, reflective moments.
