Eurovision Song Contest 2016: Cyprus – “Alter Ego” By Minus One

Eurovision 2016 is almost upon us and as the countries begin to reveal their entries let’s start giving them the once-over. The Cyprus song is called “Alter Ego” and is performed by Minus One.

ARTIST

Minus One is a Cypriot rock band formed in 2009. They began their career as a cover band.

The band previously tried to represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song “Shine”, but placed third in the national final.

The band currently consists of vocalist Francois Micheletto, guitarist Harrys Pari, guitarist and vocalist Constantinos Amerikanos, bassist Antonis Loizides, and drummer Christopher Ioannides (Chris J).

In February 2016, frontman Micheletto auditioned on season five of France’s The Voice: la plus belle voix, where he was selected to join the team of Florent Pagny.

SONG

The song Alter Ego is the product of collaboration between the band and Thomas G:son who also handled the production.

OPINION

Very rock and very different for Cyprus. This could really get the audience fired up but is Eurovision ready for another rock winner yet?

I think it will qualify and will finish up on the left hand side of the leader board.
