Eurovision 2016 is almost upon us and as the countries begin to reveal their entries let’s start giving them the once-over.
As I will be attending the grand final this year it’s even more super exciting for me!
The Iceland song is called “Hear Them Calling” and is performed by Greta Salóme.
ARTIST
Greta Salóme is a violinist/singer-songwriter. This is the second time that she will participate in the event; she reached the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012.
Greta Salóme began playing violin at the age of four and showed a special musical talent from an early age. She has a bachelor degree in violin performance and a masters degree in music; she works and tours as a violinist and a singer songwriter. She represented Iceland at Eurovision in 2012 and released her debut album called In the Silence that same year. In 2014 she began touring with Disney Cruise Lines and is busy performing with symphony orchestras and her own concerts.
SONG
The song is about the voices we are surrounded by every day, positive and negative. The message of the song is about listening to the positive voices because they are the ones that will lead you home. The song has interesting, unique graphics and choreography to illustrate the lyrics, originally written in English.

OPINION
Take one spoonful of Loreen, add a little dollop of Mans and you pretty much have the Icelandic entry. I’m not against that as this is a good song and I quite like it. It’s upbeat, catchy and is performed with vigour – everything I want from my Eurovision entries and if done well, this will go down really well in the arena.
PREDICTION
It would be a shame not to have this in the final so I think it will qualify but I don’t see it bothering the leaders on the final scoreboard.
