manuella4709_sEurovision 2016 is almost upon us and as the countries begin to reveal their entries let’s start giving them the once-over.

As I will be attending the grand final this year it’s even more super exciting for me!

The Slovenia song is called “Blue And Red” and is performed by ManuElla.

ARTIST

Music was a part of ManuElla’s life from the very childhood: at the age of six, ManuElla already played accordion, and at 13 she had her own band playing bass guitar. But she has always felt best as a vocalist. As a 16-year-old, she performed for the first time on TV and then took part in a German musical talent show Das Supertalent, where she ranked amongst the first one hundred best performers. In 2012, ManuElla took part in Misija Evrovizija, one of the selection shows for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest and was placed in the semi-final.

The past two years were difficult for ManuElla. She lost her father who was her greatest supporter and fan. However, she got back on her feet and dedicated herself to composing songs which keeps her uplifted and fills her with the will to live. She claims everyone must follow their dreams in this short life and follow one’s calling. She entered her song, Blue And Red, to the national selection in Slovenia, EMA 2016 and won the right to represent her country in Stockholm.

SONG

A Country-pop song writtend by Marjan Hvala, Manuella Brečko and Leon Oblak

OPINION

It’s quirky, cute and catchy – everything I want in my Eurovision – thanks for bringing this to the contest ManuElla! It also has the required key change so it’s pretty much got the lot!

PREDICTION

I think this will qualify as we need a bit of quirky country in the final. I’m not sure it can do as well as I’d like it to do in the final an will hover between the left and right hand side of the board in the final.

LYRICS

“Blue and red, like I’m watching you and me
Every little thing you said
Led me to fall in love with you

Then he tried to fix me and I wasn’t strong
But you are not a composer, I am not your song
Strange chords, different words

How can I mix red and blue together
Beautiful things and stormy weather

Alive, alive, alive

‘Cos blue is blue and red is red
Our past is fading in my head
But now the colour doesn’t matter,
You feel blue and I am better

Now I’ve changed, now I’m stronger than before
Never touching me no more
I’m okay, I’ll find my way

How can I mix red and blue together
Beautiful things and stormy weather

Alive, alive, alive

‘Cos blue is blue and red is red
Our past is fading in my head
But now the colour doesn’t matter,
You feel blue and I am better

(Blue is blue and red is red,
Now the colour doesn’t matter)

Alive, alive, alive
(Beautiful things in stormy weather)
Alive, alive, alive”

Good luck ManuElla!
