Who is Ben Hazlewood?
You may know singer/songwriter Ben Hazlewood from season one of Australia’s The Voice, where he first wowed the audience and coaches with a cover of The Script’s ‘Breakeven’.
Since his time on the show wrapped up back in 2012, he’s been busy writing and recording music and performing in his native Australia and abroad.
Most recently, Ben wrapped up a tour of the West Coast of the United States, including a stop at the famed Viper Room in Los Angeles, and he released the second single, Sail Away, from his upcoming EP EOS.
I’m officially a Ben Hazlewood fan after listening to Sail Away. It kicks off with a slow, haunting vibe, showcasing Ben’s strong vocals, and then segues into a powerful, hard-hitting chorus. This one’s a great “roll down the windows and turn up the volume” addition to your playlist.
Here’s what Ben has to say about the inspiration for the emotionally charged Sail Away:
“Sail Away is a journey of letting go, which is the hardest thing to do after fighting for so long to keep the dream alive. It’s when the natural resistance to admit defeat sets in and provokes taking that one chance to move forward instead of waiting for the change that may never come.”
