Queen Of Pop, Madonna, is hopefully releasing new music this year so let’s take this opportunity to look back at Madge’s awesome career.
Her debut, self titled album “Madonna” was released in the UK on 11th February 1984 reaching a peak of thirty-seven in the album chart and present on the chart for twenty weeks.
After a re-release titled “Madonna – The First Album” in July 1985, the album charted again on the UK Albums chart. It reached a higher peak of fourteen and was present on the chart for eighty weeks.
1 – Lucky Star
Possibly one of the most iconic songs and image from the 1980s. Dancing about in her string vest, gloves and bow in her hair. Ah, those were the days!
2 – Borderline
One of my all time favourite Madonna songs. There’s just something about the very simplistic intro that gets me every time.
3 – Burning Up
Not a song I’m very familiar with but no wonder she is burning up – have you seen how much twirling around she does in the video?
4 – I Know It
Some really bad 80s B movie is out there just crying out for this song to be used on the soundtrack.
5 – Holiday
A classic! Not much more to say…
6 – Think Of Me
It sound, to me, like a “filler” track to make up the numbers.
7 – Physical Attraction
Only on her first album and she’s already being the risqué Madge we all know and love.
8 – Everybody
This is where it all began – her very first single. She certainly was a league above most artists at the time and, well, still is!
