Chaka Khan is back for 2019 with her amazing new track “Hello Happiness”!
She really needs no introduction at all. For more than forty five years, Chaka Khan has graced the charts globally with her unmistakable voice and style, with infinitely used and covered versions of her absolute classic hits “I’m Every Woman” and “Ain’t Nobody”. And now, as she approaches her fifth decade in music, Chaka releases her brand new single, the dance-a-holic “Hello Happiness”, her first new material for twelve years.
“Hello Happiness” is the title track of her forthcoming album released on February 15th and marks the twelfth studio album of her career and her first since 2007’s “Funk This”.
“Funk This” was a unbridled hit across the world and included the singles “Disrespectful” with Mary J Blige and “You Belong To Me” with Michael McDonald, and saw Chaka give a valuable lesson in delivering an upbeat soul/R&B/funk masterpiece by one of the world’s most recognisable female legends of music.
“Hello Happiness” is the second single to come from the album and follows “Like Sugar” that was premiered at the 2019 Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. The album is reported to be ‘contemporary’ as well as echoing the past, in particular the late 1970’s New York disco scene.
“Hello Happiness” will join a long list of disco and dance classics that stretch right back to her debut in 1973. Aside from “Woman” and “Nobody”, the list of career defining anthems also includes “What’cha Gonna Do For Me?”, “I Feel For You” and “I’ll Be Good To You” as well as a succession of Gold and Platinum certified albums, TEN Grammy awards and global sales of more than seventy million records.
Rejoice, the Queen of funk is back!
