British artist Rory And The Reverie releases his self-titled debut EP.
After writing and recording songs exclusively for himself in his bedroom for five years Rory Duffy, performing as Rory and the Reverie, decided it was time for someone else to hear his music.
Growing up in Middlesbrough, Rory first cut his teeth on the North East music circuit as lead singer of math-rock band Toyger, however since their disbandment in 2012 he has pursued a decidedly less raucous and more folk-inspired sound, albeit from behind closed doors.
That all changed when in late 2018 when Rory recorded his debut self-titled EP and, six months later, released it to the world. Rory and the Reverie marries stripped back acoustic guitar and Stratocaster twangs with story telling vocals about family, relationships and the reluctance of becoming an adult.
“Old Friend” is the lead track on his debut EP. It was named BBC Introducing track of the week on BBC Tees, and is a song about not having the chance to get to know his grandfather.
