British band The Wired are back with “Better Man”!
Northern natives The Wired have released their first single in over a year ”Better Man”. The Sheffield outfit of Caleb Smelt (vocals, guitar), Nat Harris (lead guitar), Richard May (bass) and Curt Russell (drums and backing vocals) formed in 2015 starting out as a high school project.
The Wired had a brilliantly successful 2018, playing their This Feeling tour across the UK and selling out at their home town. It doesn’t stop there, the band have been doing their rounds of the festival circuit playing high profile shows at Sound City and The Great Escape plus supporting the likes of The Pigeon Detectives, JUDAS and 90’s band Cast.
Their debut EP “Dirty Knees” also gained Radio X playlisting for its lead single “Stay Here”. The latter end of 2018 saw big changes for the band, their London debut and significant landmarks for the band including their first slew of continental shows, plus signing a development deal with Tim Laws (Songwriter G abrielle, The Lighthouse Family, Brand New Heavies, Billie).
The band’s previous EP received huge support from the likes of Gigslutz, plus being chosen as This Feeling’s Track of the Week on Gordon Smart’s Radio X show and X-Posure playlisting on RadioX with further support from John Kennedy as his Recommends Track Of The Week. Since the release of the “Dirty Knees” EP The Wired have had a reshuffle of members, Caleb has commented that the band have reached the point where they have the best possible musicians for their cause and it feels like everything has fallen into place for them just in time for the next part of their endeavour.
Of the new single, say singer Caleb, “‘Better Man’ is written about a boy from Sheffield who is feeling stuck in a rut and doesn’t feel like he will ever get out. The boy however doesn’t let this get to him and has the attitude of trying to make the best out of the situation that he is in”.
