What next for this year’s Eurovision entrants?
Lithuania: Jurij Veklenko
28 year old singer Jurij Veklenko was chosen to represent Lithuania at this year’s Contest having finished twelfth the previous year and ninth in 2016, so it was hoped Jurij was going to do well and give the country its fourteenth Eurovision entry with the song “Run With The Lions”. Sadly it was not to be and Jurij failed to qualify for the seventh time since 2004. Jurij had, however, been to Eurovision before. In 2015 as a backing singer for Monika Linkytė and Vaidas Baumila on their entry “This Time”, which finished 18th!
In 2018 he released his debut single “Kartias” prior to auditioning alone to represent Lithuania at this year’s Contest. “Run With The Lions” was written by British songwriter Ashley Hicklin along with Eric Lumiere and Pele Loriano. Just before this year’s Contest, Jurij released his debut album “Mano Sapnuose” (“In My Dreams”) and has since released a follow up single “Skirtingi Pasauliai” (“Different Worlds”) with fellow Lithuanian artist Inga Jankauskaitė. Jurij is also on tour this Summer in support of his album and we wish him every success for the future!
