Canadian pop artist Kayla Diamond releases “Bad For You”.
Toronto pop artist Kayla Diamond quickly became a rising star with the release of her debut EP “Beautiful Chaos” in 2017. The EP spawned two radio singles “What You’re Made Of” and “Carnival Hearts “and her tracks have appeared on some of Spotify and Apple Music’s most followed playlists. “Carnival Hearts” has racked up an impressive three and a half million streams and “What You’re Made Of” reached No.10 on the AC Radio Chart. Following that success, Kayla returns with her upcoming EP “Dirty Laundry” set for release on July 26th via Pheromone Recordings.
Today, she has shared the second single from the EP “Bad For You” featuring fellow Canadian newcomer Toito, who releases his debut EP very soon, which will include his singles “Fool” and “Lights On”. Dedicating this song to an ex, Kayla says,”You were my poison, my vice. You were bad for me but I enjoyed temporarily blinding myself”. “Bad For You” is the follow-up to “Cry Wolf” which was released in May, and has seen well over 65,000 streams on Spotify!
“Dirty Laundry” is a dark pop record that hums and buzzes as it propels one to dance. Kayla says: “My last album was more upbeat pop, more major chords. Happier and depressing. This one is more attitude. Kind of like ‘I miss you but fuck you”. What “Dirty Laundry” has are buoyant pop hits that serve to mean something more; to be something more. Pop music’s greatest trick is making floor-thumping bangers that are secretly about the most heart-aching human experiences. “Dirty Laundry” is a pop Trojan Horse. Come for the hits, stay for the revelations!
