Kovic releases a beautiful cover of “Love Really Hurts Without You”.
Mark Kovic (Kovic) is an English singer-songwriter and producer, born and raised in Brentwood, Essex, to a Serbian father and English mother. Known for his baritone vocal and big chorus’, his first momentum-accelerating single titled “Drown” was released in 2017, produced by Jonny Coffer (Beyoncé, Emile Sandé) & Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag N Bone man), and co-written with goliath songwriter Jamie Scott (Jesse Ware, Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Justin Bieber).
The track was picked up by the head music supervisor at EA and playlisted on the FIFA 18 soundtrack, catapulting Kovic into the biggest gaming placement of the year, notably joining the top 50 viral Spotify charts across a number of EU countries, and gaining millions of streams within months of release. The debut album for Kovic is due to be released later this year, and will feature a contrasting combination of songs ranging from soulfully haunting balad, to summer infused pop. Among an A-star list cast of creative collaborators, it will also feature a number tracks self-produced and written alongside rising talent and brother Ben Kovic.
Following the success of the singles “Drown”, “If You Don’t Love Me” and “Giving Up” (almost seven million Spotify streams) the singer returns with a heartfelt acoustic version of “Love Really Hurts Without You” originally made famous by Billy Ocean. Blessed with an effortlessly sublime & unique voice Kovic delivers a soul-nourishing version, full of warmth and tenderness. Kovic’s signature vocal and style enable us to connect with this song, taking us all back to a different time in our lives. The pain that love can cause, missing that special person. The musical arrangement is a gorgeous blend of piano and acoustic guitar which perfectly complement Kovic and his heartfelt portrayal. “I Wanted to portray the feelings behind the song that some may not have felt hearing the original” say Kovic himself.
Grabbing his first Radio one spin via Huw Stephens’ show, Kovic was invited to perform live with BBC Introducing at the Royal Albert Hall, gaining early support from within the UK station, as well as achieving placements on many of Spotify’s New Music Friday lists across Europe, getting a look-in to some of the viral top 50 charts. Over 170K Shazam’s of Kovic’s tracks also pays testament to the reaction of listeners starting to notice the early waves of an artist destined for a big stage. Kovic now looks to his second UK & EU tour of 2019 in October, with the intention of selling out his first 1000 cap venue at Islington Assembly Hall in London and expanding regional shows.
It is clear to see that everywhere is growing and screaming out for Kovic to come back with a bigger show each time. Currently Kovic is in the midst of an incredibly busy writing schedule, between London, L.A. and Nashville working with some immense talents: Chelcee Grimes (Dua Lipa, Tom Walker, Jonas Blue) Sigma, Gareth Emery, Jamie Scott (Jesse Ware, Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Justin Bieber) to name a few. The second record is shaping up to be a great successor, adding to the armada of milestones already achieved by the first.
