Ros Gilman debuts with “Fantasies”!
“Fantasies” is the debut single by multi-award-winning film composer, multi-nominated songwriter, producer and musician Ros Gilman, featuring vocals by Becca Sopher, who opened for Craig David, Pink, Shaggy and Nelly Furtado. Recorded in London and released on Ros’s indie label Guiro Music, “Fantasies” is based in a genre Ros has dubbed “cinematic pop” and it is a blend of big screen drama and catchy chart pop.
This new genre of music comes naturally to Ros, reflecting both his song writing and film composing skills. “Fantasies” captures Ros’s love of classical music and film and takes you on a musical journey into your wildest imagination, where dreams and fantasies become a reality. Ros said; “I believe in the importance of dreaming. Dreams can give us the strength to continue walking on the oftentimes difficult path towards our goals”. He adds “I see Fantasies being played in an animated feature film in the likes of “Coco”, “Moana”, “Tangled” or “Beauty and the Beast”. The vocals could be described as soft and angelic, yet powerful at the same time. References could include the vocals of Tori Kelly and Mandy Moore”.
Following a life changing career setback, Ros, a former professional classical violinist, has a strong desire to help people realise, through his music, that they can make their dreams come true. At the beginning of a promising career as a violinist, which saw Ros perform across three continents, making multiple appearances on national TV and radio, a sudden hand-injury forced him to give up his life as a concert musician. Having the dream of continuing to bring music to people, Ros fought his way back to his passion, reinventing himself as a composer, songwriter and music producer. After years of studying composition, song writing and later the music business, he released his debut EP Fantasies (including radio edit, club mix, unplugged version, full length version and two instrumental mixes) on his own record label.
Sydney-born and LA-based vocalist Becca Sopher was the lead singer of the R&B group FoxFire IV (formerly signed to Village Roadshow/Sony Music). The group reached Top 3 on radio airplay, charted in the Top 20 of the ARIA charts. The music video, filmed at the magnificent Leighton House Museum and the concert hall of the Pushkin House, features an acclaimed cast of modern dancers.
