Tove Lo set to release “Sunshine Kitty” and works with Kylie!
Sweden’s Tove Lo (Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson) releases her fourth studio album later this month. Titled “Sunshine Kitty”, the album follows on from 2017’s “Blue Lips” and has already seen the release of the singles “Glad He’s Gone”, “Bad As The Boys”, featuring Finnish singer Alma, and “Jacques”, with British DJ Jax Jones. Now Tove Lo joins forces with the legendary Kylie Minogue for a new track “Really Don’t Like U”, that precedes the release of “Sunshine Kitty” in three weeks time.
“Really Don’t Like U” is an electro-pop number with both singers in fine, angelic voice. The track is written by Tove Lo together with Norwegian songwriter Caroline Furoyen and US songwriter Ian Kirkpatrick. It follows Kylie’s most recent single release “New York City”, taken from her current, chart topping, greatest hits album “Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection“. The track has already drawn positive reaction from critics and fans alike, with its infectious beat and cool production, and clearly Tove Lo herself has been swept away by its very existence when she tweeted: “Surreal moments leading up to the MOST surreal of ALL; tonight my song with the magical superstar @kylieminogue is out in the world!!”.
Since 2012, Tove Lo has enjoyed meteoric, global success, first with the single “Habits/Stay High” reaching the top ten in both the UK and the US and her album “Queen Of The Clouds”, which also included the sensational single “Talking Body”. Tove Lo hit back with “Cool Girl” in 2016 and the album “Lady Wood”. “Blue Lips” featured the singles “Disco Tits” and “Bitches”, which featured Alma, Icona Pop and Charli XCX. In addition to this, Tove Lo has featured on some massive hits of the last five years including Alesso’s “Heroes (We Could Be)” in 2014, “Nick Jonas’ “Close” and Flume’s “Say It”, both in 2016.
“Sunshine Kitty” is set as a fourteen track album with writing and production contributions from the likes of Karl Johan Schuster aka Shellback, Mattman & Robin (Dua Lipa, Britney Spears) on the track “Equally Lost”, which features US rapper Doja Cat, and top hitmaker Max Martin. Tove Lo herself has described the album thus: “It’s filled with songs about naive love, teen crushes, future fears and being a vulnerable weirdo”! Recording has been split between Los Angeles and Sweden and Tove Lo is due to premier the album at New York’s famous Bowery Ballroom on 19th September, the day before its full release.
“Sunshine Kitty” is released on 20th September. “Really Don’t Like U” is available now on all digital platforms.
