FRESH: ‘I Don’t Recognise Myself’ – Joe Carabine

Joe Carabine finds “I Don’t Recognise Myself”.

by Christopher Smith

After a year packed with live shows including The Great Escape 2019, BBC Introducing Live 2019, a support slot with indie band Sea Girls and a full-capacity headline show at renowned local venue The Boileroom, rock artist Joe Carabine releases his striking debut “I Don’t Recognise Myself”. Co-produced by Kieron Pepper (The Prodigy, Sleeper, Para Fiction).

Written from the perspective of someone close to Joe losing control and making the wrong choices, “I Don’t Recognise Myself” takes the listener down a path of self-destruction and rebellion. “I Don’t Recognise Myself” is a tense song which builds towards a huge drop where a picture of self-destructiveness is painted by imagery of car-crashes and rampages. Joe’s raw and confessional vocal is complemented by an exciting arrangement which combines distorted guitars with electronic drums and bass to create a fresh rock sound.

2019 has seen Joe playing live religiously including festivals such as The Great Escape 2019 and BBC Introducing Live 2019 his headline at renowned local venue, The Boileroom and a support slot with up indie band Sea Girls. “I Don’t Recognise Myself” is just the start of a four song debut EP, produced by Pepper which will be released early 2020 with an exciting live arrangement to go alongside.
