EVERY UK NUMBER ONE SONG: ‘Nut Rocker’ – B. Bumble and the Stingers

What was the number one song in the UK on 17th May 1962?

By Hayley Beasley Dye

American Instrumental ensemble B. Bumble and the Stingers, were number one for 1 week with Nut Rocker.

So, at first look at the title and artist, I thought that I didn’t have a clue about this tune. As it turns out, I do. It is in fact a rock ‘n’ roll piano version of the march from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. It’s an excellent and joyful take on a classical tune and is lots of fun.
