The most places climbed in one week on the UK singles chart.

This record belongs to P!NK in 2008 with “So What”. She went from No.38 to No.1 – a jump of 37 places – on 11th October 2008. The reason for this was that her record company initially released the song as a download only, while the following week they went for a full physical release (people mostly bought CD’s back then!) and the song went on to top the UK top 40.

Special mention must be given to UK pop act Steps, however. In January 2001, their single “It’s The Way You Make Me Feel” was inadvertently put on the shelf of a record shop one Saturday, two days before it should of been! This resulted in the single charting that Sunday at No.72! With its full, official release coming the following day, the week saw the song leap a whopping 70 places to ‘enter’ the chart at No.2!
