Casey Conroy has a pair of “Best Shoes”!
Disruptive pop infused with fresh and sultry R&B sounds is one way to describe Casey Conroy’s melodic sound. The 20 year old once referred to her music as “defiant pop”. She is somebody you can’t categorize. The Orlando native grew up being exposed to different musical genres – allowing her to discover the power of storytelling and creating music that was out of the box.
Music made her feel she could have a voice, a message that was echoed by her father. Casey wrote her first song at 7 years old. It was then that she came to a realization: She wanted to create music. That moment fueled her desire to continue writing and explore different musical artists. “I always really gravitated to artists that were great songwriters first”, she says citing pop and r&b singers as her biggest influences.
Casey has spent the past few years writing and recording music. With the help of her production team, she’s been able to overcome the trials and tribulations in the music industry and create music that is raw, unapologetic, and empowering. Her latest single is “Best Shoes” and Casey took time out to talk about the song with us.
“I wrote “Best Shoes” in a moment where I constantly felt like I was getting up everyday, putting my best foot forward and the world was just knocking me back down. It got to a point where I felt so defeated I just wanted to run home, to the safety and innocence of what it represents. I wanted to call my mom and tell her I was hurting. “Best Shoes’ is that conversation you have, sitting at the end of her bed, telling her everything that’s wrong”.
As we wait for more of Casey Conroy’s original music, the inaugural singer songwriter will continue interpreting this generations sensibilities, through her lyrics.
