FRESH: ‘Woman (What’s It Gonna Take To Satisfy You?)’ – Little Grim

Little Grim ask “Woman (What’s It Gonna Take To Satisfy You?)”

Following a stream of sold out shows across London at Paper Dress Vintage, Old Blue Last and The Finsbury, as well as picking up plays from Radio X, BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing London and The South, Little Grim have recently announced the release of their new single “Woman (What’s It Gonna Take To Satisfy You?)”.

“The lyrics are about the red light district and sharing an intimate moment with a stranger” says Joe Murphy, lead singer of the band. “I tried to get inside the mind of one of the men who would go into the rooms and felt really conflicted. Seeing the sex workers’, transactions being made and the curtains drawn, was all very overwhelming. It really stayed with me after the trip. When we recorded the song back in London, I was toying around with different beats and chopping up melodies which ended up becoming the foundation. When we took it to the studio, we wanted the textures to feel strange, so opted for some more experimental sounds, half the drum sounds are bin lids being smashed together, along with recordings of trains passing by, and a Squeezebox (something I’ve always wanted to use since listening to Anna Calvi)”.

South London alt-pop band Little Grim mingle chilling, harrowing lyrics and soaring vocals with slick beats. The result is music you can dance and cry to, preferably at the same time. Inspired by artists such as Alt-J, Glass Animals and Everything Everything, their music is a delicate balance between intricate guitar parts and electronic elements. Following a string of releases since October 2018, the band have picked up notable plays from Radio X, BBC Introducing, BBC 6Music with Tom Robinson, and Amazing Radio. They have also featured live on BBC Introducing The South’s show with Melita Dennett. Little Grim’s live shows have been drawing large crowds to their sold out gigs at The Old Blue Last, Bermondsey Social Club, The Paper Dress Vintage and their packed out performance at The Great Escape Festival 2019.

The band have just announced plans for their October tour and headline at The Finsbury, London. The band recently released, All On Black; a balls to the wall concoction that boasts a heavier side to the band whilst flaunting their tongue-in-cheek lyricism and playful riffs. The song has already picked up a notable premiere on Radio X with John Kennedy, has also featured on Jess Iszatt’s BBC Introducing London show, and has numerous plays from the likes of Amazing Radio. Since being signed to Peer Music Publishing, the band have seen early success on TV with music featuring on BBC iPlayer show ‘The A List’, with more to come.
