Malla releases “Samaan Huoneeseen”
Helsinki based Malla plays late night disco, a mix between dreamy moroder disco, electro and synth pop. “Samaan Huoneeseen” (In The Same Room) is her latest single. Disco is at the heart of what she does, inspired by the 80s love for dance, funky rhythms and feel-good vibes, her goal is to keep people dancing, it’s as simple as that! Laura-Maaret ‘Malla’ Malmivaara is a Finnish artist and producer.
After several projects, bands and collaborations, Malla is now releasing her anticipated first releases in Finnish. Produced in collaboration with Jarkko Kumpulainen, Sabrina and xoxo singles present Malla’s electrical roots, which draw on the analog world of synthesizers and drum machines and the cosmopolitan club culture, combined with low-key and straightforward lyrical expression. Malla grew up in an artist family of musicians, actors and dancers, and started playing and became interested in composing very early. After spending his childhood and early youth through intensive music and dance studies, Malla returned to composing and producing.
Elisabeth Underground and Belle Who. Childhood home vinyl collections, musical openness, and performing parent mobility introduced Malla’s early electronic music styles, European electronic rock, and classic Chicago and Detroit styles. In Malla’s music, rhythmic production, rooted in style, mixes with melodic expression. The connection between dance and music, the body of music that takes root in the human species, is the dominant energy in Malla’s musical production and life. “Sabrina” is a new original opening that descends to the dance floor in a controlled way.
