Eurovision 2020 – UNITED KINGDOM
The United Kingdom song is called ‘My Last Breath’ and is performed by James Newman.
ARTIST
James Newman is a multi-platinum selling, BRIT award-winning and Grammy-nominated songwriter, having won a BRIT for British Single of the Year for Waiting All Night performed by Rudimental and Ella Eyre. It was James’ first UK Number 1 single in 2013.
SONG
The four writers set out to write a simple, direct song with a universal message. A documentary about a diver in the North Sea who needs saving after getting cut off from the rest of his crew served as inspiration. “It got us thinking about what you would for other people,” Newman told the BBC.

OPINION
Steve:
This is a very radio-friendly song and I do really like it the more I hear it – so well done UK on choosing a good song. Yes, it is a good song with a good singer but is it a Eurovision song? The UK seem to be putting more of an effort it but have they forgot what makes a Eurovision song?
PREDICTIONS
Steve:
This deserves to finish a lot higher than last place for sure. It’s not a winner or anywhere close to being one so I’d say it will hover between left and right side of the leader board.
LYRICS:
“Some people let go
Some people let love slip away, yeah
But I’m gonna hold on
When no one believes, I’ll keep the faith
And I know that we’re in trouble
But I swear that we’ll survive
If we were deep sea divers
And no one came to find us
If you had nothing left
I’d give you my last breath (oh oh oh, oh, oh)
I’d give you my last breath (oh oh oh, oh, oh)
We all need a lifeline
Someone to call when we’re alone, hmm, yeah
It’s all good in the good times
But I’ll still be there when it all goes wrong
Yes, I will
If we were deep sea divers
And no one came to find us
If you had nothing left
I’d give you my last breath (oh oh oh, oh, oh)
I’d give you my last breath (oh oh oh, oh, oh)
And I know that we’re in trouble
But I swear that we’ll survive
If we were deep sea divers
And no one came to find us
If you had nothing left
I’d give you my last breath (oh oh oh, oh, oh)
I’d give you my last breath (oh oh oh, oh, oh)
I’d give you my last breath”
