The fastest selling albums in week one in the UK are:
The biggest of all comes from Adele in 2015. Her third album “25” sold 800,307 copies in the first week to land at No.1 on the week ending’s album chart.
Adele broke the record that had been held since 1997 by Oasis with their album “Be Here Now”, which sold 663,389 copies in the first six days prior to charting at No.1. Adele also broke the previous record for a female artist, which had previously been held by Dido, who’s 2003 album “Life For Rent” sold 400,351 copies in week one to land at the top of the chart.
Other notable big sellers have come from Ed Sheeran in 2017 with his “÷” album that sold 432,062 copies, Leona Lewis with her debut album “Spirit” in 2007, which sold 375,872 copies in week one, Robbie Williams who was in “Intensive Care” in 2005 with 373,832 copies.
