Molly. tackles materialism. “Empire”
Described as someone who is “creating waves”, Molly. injects her steadily flowing stream of uplifting indie beats into brand new single “Empire”. It hammers home human habit’s of materialism, with a focus on appreciating the things in life that really matter. An apple in the eye of BBC Introducing Lancashire, also favoured by Amazing Radio, Molly. cleverly uses her knack for crafting indie beats to convey ‘Empires’ meaning; one that can be recognised universally in modern day life. “In this life of life of luxury, the best things in life are free”.
“Empire’s” fast-paced tempo, pricked with sharp synths and electronic drums, reflects that life is too short to over-cherish things with only a material value. Molly’s echoing vocals, inspired by the likes of Maggie Rogers and Tracey Chapman, give a sense that focusing on the unimportant is a broader issue that’s commonly overlooked. Throughout uncertain times such as the present, many are beginning to realise just how much in life is taken for granted – Molly looks to highlight this.
