Benjamin Simon is “Beside You”
“Beside You” tells the relatable struggle of someone grappling with a lover. Despite the treatment this person receives from the lover, he/she can’t find a way to distance him/herself from a potentially toxic, but irresistible love. Using sleek vocal harmonies, a funky bass line, and varied, rhythmic drums, “Beside You” is sure to make you sing along.
Benjamin Simon is a producer and singer/songwriter from Baldwin, Maryland. His music, which is not confined to a single genre, draws on influences from alternative pop, neo-soul, R&B, bedroom pop, and funk. His use of sleek, hard-hitting drums, funky basslines, and self-recorded background vocals, as well as his melodic lead vocals, are just some of the traits that give Simon’s music a distinct and infectious sound. His debut EP, “Not Very Careless”, is an inventive 4-song project in which Simon writes about his recent life transitions and the many emotions that accompanied him.
After taking a music production course in high school, Simon began producing music and posting it to SoundCloud. Since posting his music to Spotify, Simon has several songs which he produced, arranged, mixed, mastered, recorded, and wrote. Additionally, Simon found a joy for music and, in particular, singing, when he sang in an a cappella group for two years in high school. Now in college at William & Mary in Virginia, he continues to produce music using free trials of music production software and recording studios offered by his college.
