What was the number one song in the UK on 4th August 1966?
British band, The Troggs hit the stop spot for 2 weeks with With a Girl Like You.
Well there’s lots of ba ba ba bas in this song. Were these non-lyrical vocals popular and credible in the 60s or were they just inserted when the songwriter couldn’t think of any lyrics that would fit the tune? Anyway, I found them rather annoying in this Trogg song. It is also an incredibly short song that seems to finish as soon as it’s started. For a song that seems short on ideas, I’m surprised by its success. Still, it’s fairly enjoyable and not an altogether terrible song. Now, that’s a positive review if ever there was one.
