American/British band, The Monkees were number one with I’m a Believer for 4 weeks.
Written by Neil Diamond, but made famous by The Monkees, I’m a Believer is a worthy example of the perfect pop tune. Notable introduction, catchy verse, even catchier chorus. It would have even the most stone hearted person twisting on the dance floor and singing along. However, whenever I hear the beginning of it, I can’t help, but think of Vic Reeves & EMF’s cover (I thought love was only true in fairy tales *bam bam* OI). It is an excellent 60s tune, one that very simply brings much joy.
