Birmingham Electric have the “Light Of The World”
“Light of the World” is the debut single from Netherlands-based Birmingham Electric. BE’s sound recalls synthpop, post-punk and new wave elements in a modern context. American expat electronic musician and audio engineer Andrew Evans has gathered an interesting mix of veteran collaborators, including OMD’s original drummer Malcolm Holmes, whose live and programmed percussion is featured on this track.
Berlin’s underground godfather of techno, Mark Reeder, who performs the spoken-word interlude (and has recently completed two remixes of the track, due out in the coming weeks). Live drummer André Machado, bassist Aldo Viñerta and keyboardist Lori Evans round out the BE live lineup. Regarding “Light of the World”, Evans says of the track, “it’s a song about impermanence, and how we participate in it”.
