Vern Asbury has “Something Inside”
Vern Asbury is a solo artist, but on his new record, “Something Inside”, Sam Bourne plays bass, synth and some guitar and some drum programming. Vern and Sam have been collaborating in different guises for some time now, having initially met in Brighton about ten years ago. Post Malone, Lewis Capaldi, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Steely Dan are among their influences.
Vern has played a live session on BBC Radio and also on Juice FM. He has played as a session guitarist on many notable cuts for artists, such as “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi and “You Deserve Better” by James Arthur. “Something Inside” was recorded in his home studio setup. Vern produced the track with co-production from Sam Bourne and Froe Barnes (TMS Productions).
Vern says he wanted to create a bitter sweet love song and break away from my comfort zone of pop rock. The song is about having an acceptance for second hand love. For some reason, Vern played the guitar solo on this song behind his head, naked and smothered in lard! Ok.
