Canadian performer and songwriter Ormiston has launched his debut single, “Rebel” and it rocks! This is 80’s cool disco, 90’s indie-pop and 21st century pop all mixed together for wide appeal.
The twangy, retro soundtrack and muffled vocals feels at times like a cross between M (“Pop Muzik”) and Blondie as Ormiston delivers his antithesis to a year and bad news with this slice of audible joy.
Born into a bilingual Montreal family, he was raised around female musicians and grew up with a strong sense of melody. After mixing and producing some tracks for Milk & Bone, Heartstreets, Misage and Freida Mari, in 2013 he released the song “Typically Her” (under the name Beverlay) that ended up being remixed by Kaytranada, helping it reach more than 3 million streams worldwide.
Ormiston was signed to the Canadian label Lisbon Lux Records (Le Couleur, Russell Louder, Radiant Baby and Das Mörtal) last year and is currently working on his first album to be released this Spring. Watch out!
