The song, “The Slightest Touch”, was originally recorded by Five Star in 1986.
Michael Jay and Marvin Morrow wrote the song “The Slightest Touch” for 80’s pop sensations, Five Star. It was recorded for their 1986 studio album, “Silk And Steel” and released as the sixth single in March 1987. The song peaked at No.4 in the UK, becoming their sixth top ten single there, and No.2 in Ireland. It was remixed in 2005 for intended release along with a compilation, but it never materialised.
Former Eternal singer Louise recorded a version of the song for her 2001 best of album, “Changing Faces”, but in 2021, pop group Steps recorded and released their version, which was included on their studio album, “What The Future Holds” part 2 that same year. The track is accompanied by a band made video and was released digitally.
But which version is the best? FIVE STAR’s original or STEPS’ cover?
