Chesney Hawkes 1991

THEN & NOW: ‘The One And Only’ – Chesney Hawkes

An interesting new ‘mix’ of Chesney Hawkes‘ 1991 five week chart topper, “The One And Only”, has just come out, courtesy of Mr. Nik Kershaw, he of “Wouldn’t It Be Good” and “The Riddle” fame.

Nik, of course, wrote and co-produced Chesney’s debut single from the film, ‘Buddy’s Song’, over thirty years ago now, so it’s fitting he should lend some new notes and more of his own mark to this new production. Nik and Chesney have been working together for over a year now with Chesney featuring on two standalone tracks, “Be Still” and “Lost In You”, in 2021.

It’s difficult in fact to spot the differences between this new version and the original. It’s slightly more stripped back and with a different guitar middle bit, but otherwise, it’s the same song. See what you think…
