THEN & NOW: Betty Boo

Did you know it’s been nearly thirty years since Alison Clarkson last recorded new music for herself? Who? Boo. Betty Boo. Alison has largely been out of focus for three decades, save some writing credits on songs recorded by Hear’Say and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Well, she’s back and 2022 has already seen the release of “Get Me To The Weekend”. Now to cement that return, Betty unleashes the follow up, “Shining Star”. Now she really is doin’ the do! Both tracks come exactly thirty years since she last graced the UK top 40 with “Let Me Take You There” in 1992, which peaked at No.12 in the UK.

Betty first came to the fore in 1989 when she sang vocals on the Beatmasters top ten hit “Hey DJ (I Can’t Dance To The Music You’re Playing)” before perching herself in the top ten throughout most of 1990 with “Doin’ The Do” and “Where Are You Baby?”.
