COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet’

The song, “I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet”, was originally recorded by Gonzalez in 1977

British R&B and Funk band Gonzalez wrote and recorded the song “I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet” for their fourth studio album of the same name. The track was released at the end of 1977 and became their only charting hit single, peaking at No.15 in the UK, No.26 in America and No.7 on the Dance chart there.

In 1989, British DJ’s Pat Sharp and Mick Brown revived the song, with some help from producers Stock Aitken Waterman, for their Help A London Child charity. Having previously covered “Let’s All Chant” in 1988, the duo released their version in April and it went to No.9 this time, higher than the original and also their highest charting single as a recording act.

But which version is the best? GONZALEZ’s original or PAT & MICK’s cover?
